The Adaptive Reef Refugium, featuring AquaIllumination’s Blade Refugium light, delivers efficient and controlled nutrient export for modern reef aquariums. With its innovative top-lighting design and sealed construction, this algae reactor provides all the benefits of macroalgae or turf algae filtration without the typical drawbacks of light spill, noise, or cumbersome maintenance.
No Light Spill: The top-down lighting design means the light goes exactly where it's needed. No unintended algae growth elsewhere in your sump.
Whisper-Quiet Operation: Unlike traditional waterfall-style ATS systems, this unit runs virtually silent, especially when paired with low-noise DC pumps like the AI Axis 40.
Simplified Maintenance: Access the chamber by lifting the integrated lid and light. Harvest macroalgae or remove the screen for cleaning with minimal effort.

Whether you’re running this as an algae scrubber or a macroalgae reactor, the Adaptive Reef Refugium adapts to your sump configuration. The included adjustable stand allows you to raise or lower the unit to the desired height, making it easy to position inside or above your sump as needed.
The main body of the reactor is sealed and water-retaining, giving you flexibility to use it submerged or externally, depending on your setup.

The AI Blade Refugium is a high-efficiency LED light designed specifically for macroalgae growth. With a spectrum tailored for photosynthetic performance, featuring targeted red and blue wavelengths, the Blade Refugium delivers even and focused light to maximize nutrient export. Its low-profile and water-resistant construction ensures reliable operation in demanding reef environments. The light is also MXM compatible, allowing for wireless integration with Neptune Systems Apex controllers for advanced lighting control and automation.
